On Monday 1st of January 1962, the first ever Parliament of Samoa convened at the sacred place of Tiafau in its own built Maota Fono (Parliament House)

I. Determine which group or groups of Members will form the Government.
II. Consider and approve appropriations for Government to function.
III. Provide a legislative framework – pass and amend laws of the land.
IV. Scrutiny of the Executive Government.
V. Provide representation for all citizens.
Any member of the public is welcome to attend parliamentary sessions; however, visitors are required to adhere to the prescribed dress code.
